Tracheostomy
tube is designed to establish an artificial airway for the patients in critical
condition, which is like the endotracheal tube, both are anesthesia
consumables. But there are some differences between them in clinics.
1.
Endotracheal tube intubation can be performed through the oral or nasal cavity
without surgery; the tracheal incision can only be made through the incision of
the cricoid cartilage, and the fistula can be placed.
2.
Patients with endotracheal intubation are poorly tolerated and usually require
sedation. Patients with tracheotomy tube have significantly higher comfort and
can reduce the use of sedatives.
3.
Patients with endotracheal tube connected to a ventilator can go offline
without extubating not more than two hours. For patients with tracheotomy tube,
weaning without extubating can continue until the patient is completely cured,
and then the endotracheal tube can be removed.
