Hydraulic transmission uses hydraulic pumps to push fluid through a series of pistons and washing plates, thereby changing the amount of fluid that passes through them. The faster the fluid moves through the piston, the faster the vehicle will travel. It functions much like an electric motor, in that the more current that passes through the brush, the faster the motor runs. The gearbox uses an engine to drive a pump that moves hydraulic fluid through the gearbox. When the cleaning disc is perpendicular to the piston, the hydraulic oil cannot flow through the piston. This stops the hydraulic transmission, effectively parking the vehicle. By placing the cleaning plate above the vertical position of the piston, the hydraulic transmission has an effective overspeed function.
